Collection: Liquid Foaming Hand Soaps

Why Choose Twilight Garden Shop’s Liquid Hand Soap?

Have you ever looked at a label of store bought hand soap or shower gel, and not been able to pronounce the ingredients? Many of those unpronounceable ingredients are harsh on the skin, and simply not necessary to make a good, pure soap. I use basic ingredients—lye and oils--to make a soap that produces a lovely lather and is gentle on the skin.

Why do the soaps have different colors?

Natural, unfragranced homemade liquid soap is a light amber in color. When I add fragrance oil that contains vanillin, it may discolor the soap, but does not affect the performance. I choose not to use a color stabilizer—one less synthetic ingredient in my soaps.

Why does it look like my soap is separating?

In choosing not to add unnecessary ingredients, I decided not to use a fragrance modifier, which keeps the fragrance mixed throughout the soap. All you need to do is shake the bottle and it will mix again!

Why do you use a preservative?

Liquid Hand Soap ismade with distilled water. In order to prevent bacteria and mold from developing, I must use a preservative in any water-based product.

How long does it take to make liquid soap?

Liquid soap is cooked in a crockpot, diluted, neutralized, preserved, and sequestered prior to adding fragrance and bottling. The process can take several days to create a batch of 20-24 bottles. The soap needs to be stirred and observed frequently during the cooking process.
